Complex Volumes 003
HIPHOP MEDIA POWER RANKING + PIONEERS:

The goal had been to create 25 interstitials and a lead image for the article. The article is about a power ranking system and taking that into account - the tone of the assets should be some what serious and represent power however still have a modern / pop design quality to them. The design direction I had chose to explore had been a grunge / punk texture style using analog elements. The ranking system had been created based off a 3 tier hierchy where #1-5 had gotten a more intense treatment, 6-10 receiveing a lesser treatment, and 11-25 receiving a minor treatment. The photos had received minor touchups and textures to resemble a photoscan and to maintain consistency amongst all of the getty image assets.

Complex Volumes 003
HIP-HOP MEDIA #1 RANK FEATURE
JOE BUDDEN:

Joe budden had gotten the feature for being the most influential person in hip-hop media. I had created a photo direction that would show him as almost a political figure - having intense intensions and using the lighting and contrast to bring out a very powerful tone to the image. The photo shoot had been centered mainly around Joe’s facial expressions, body language, and stern posture / positions.
